Corey Little's Page

My name is Corey Little. I am 22 years old and live in the great state of Georgia. In 1996 I graduated with high honors from North Gwinnett High School. In 1998 I completed another step in my academic journey by graduating with high honors from Young Harris College with an A.S. (Associate) in Allied Health. In January of 1999 I became certified as a personal trainer ("certified fitness trainer") with the International Sports Sciences Association. Finally, at the start of the new millennium, in 2000, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia, receiving a B.S. in Nutrition Science. Somehow, in between all of the studying and going to class God granted me the time to build a decent physique. I'm not sure if God has blessed me tremendously with genetic potential, but I know that He has blessed me with a fire, passion, intensity, and desire for this great sport of bodybuilding. I absolutely love training my body to the limits and watching it change and adapt. What makes bodybuilding such a rewarding sport is NOT winning a trophy or having someone compliment you on your physique, it's being able motivate, inspire, and educate other individuals so that they can make the changes that they want in their bodies. Whether it's simply to lose 10 lbs, add 40 pounds to the bench press, or eventually compete in a bodybuilding contest. Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy competing, standing on stage and presenting myself, and winning, but that's not all that bodybuilding is . . . or at least that's not all that I'm about. I like to believe that I have a pretty well-rounded life. I guess you could say that I don't live the "typical bodybuilding lifestyle". During the offseason, I don't shave, tan, or diet all that strictly, and I have other hobbies and activities in my life other than bodybuilding that I enjoy.
Anyway, you didn't come here to read about my 'other hobbies' so let me tell you a little bit about my contest history. I started competing at the age of 17, after receiving a full sponsorship with Team Bodybuilding Inc. I guess that Kenneth Harder and Team Bodybuilding saw some potential in my immature 17 year old physique and decided to take a chance. I cannot even begin to express my gratitude towards Ken Harder and Team Bodybuilding for their assistance and dedication to myself and other teenage bodybuilders. Mr. Harder, whether you know it or not, you and your company mean a lot to a number of up and coming athletes in this world. No matter what competition I end up at or where I end up placing, it was Team Bodybuilding that provided the spark, way back at the age of 16, that ignited my passion for this sport. Thank you for everything! Sorry, but you've got to give credit where credit's due, here is my contest history -
*1996 NPC Eastern Seaboard Championships - 1st place, Teenage class
*1996 ANPPC Southern States Classic - 1st place, Teenage class
*1997 Junior Olympic Games - Gold medal
*1999 SNBF Georgia Supernatural Championships - 1st place, Novice MW
*1999 Superbody World Natural Bodybuilding Championships (televised) - 2nd place, Junior class *2000 INBF Hercules International (pro-qualifier) - 2nd place, Open MW (missed my pro-card by one place!) The gentleman that beat me in the Hercules was a great guy and quite a competitor. He had accumulated over 20 competitive wins throughout his bodybuilding career and went on, by unanimous decision, to win the overall title. Congrats man!!
I could not wrap this up without 'giving a little more credit where credit's due'. First, I would like to express appreciation to all of the people who've influenced and/or supported me in my bodybuilding endeavors. Mark Ward, you taught me so much about real-life bodybuilding and you and 'Kelly Jean' have been like family. Katie, you've supported me relentlessly and propped me up when I was sure that I was gonna fall on my face. Kyle, Chris, and Beckham, I couldn't have asked for better friends or training partners! Ashley, I never thought that I could or would train with a girl, but you've "fired me up" with your intensity and proven me wrong a few times - in a few ways. Mom, what can I say . . . without you I wouldn't be here at all, and without your support and all that you do for me I might as well not be here at all! God bless and thank you all from the bottom of my heart!
While all of these people mean so much to me, there is one driving force in my life that I could NOT do without. Before I ever even thought about bodybuilding, in 1989 at the age of 11, I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior. At that point I began a close, personal relationship with God that has molded, guided, and shaped me into the man that I am today. It is absolutely astounding and overwhelming for me to think of all of the things that God has done for me over my lifetime. I want to publicly thank Him right now and here for everything. I try to live my life in such a way that it is pleasing in His eyes, but I am by NO means perfect (or anywhere close for that matter). A good parallel can be made between bodybuilding and a Christian life - in both, an individual is always changing, learning, and aspiring to a higher standard. Oftentimes, people approach me with the concern that Christianity and bodybuilding are contradictory lifestyles to lead, but it is my belief that God wants His people everywhere in this world in order to share the love that He has placed in their hearts and lives. For everything that I accomplish in bodybuilding and in my life in general, I give God all of the glory.
